Full Itinerary

Day 1Welcome to Uganda!

Today you arrive in Uganda – famously known as the Pearl of Africa because of it great diversity and beauty. Our representative and your guide will receive you at the airport and then transfer you to your accommodation. Depending on arrival time, you can choose to walk around the laid back city of Entebbe, or simply rest to prepare for the next day’s activities.

Day 2Walk with the Rhinos

Depart early for Murchison Falls National Park. En route, make a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a cornerstone of Uganda’s white rhinoceros reintroduction program. Here, embark on a unique guided rhino tracking experience on foot alongside experienced rangers. This intimate encounter allows you to learn about these magnificent creatures firsthand and gain a deeper understanding of crucial conservation efforts.

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where you will find this member of the African Big 5. The rhino are powerful majestic animals. Proceed later for lunch and onto to your accommodation in Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 3Game Drive and Safari Cruise to Murchison falls

Murchison Falls National Park is the largest park in Uganda. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife, thus giving amazing game viewing drives. Start off early so you can catch the animals at their morning meal. You may even get the chance to find hunting or feeding lions. Look out for elephants, giraffes, jackson’s hartebeest, cape buffalos, and if you are lucky, leopards. Leopards are shy predators and keep out of sight as much as they can. In the afternoon continue your safari on the Nile River to the mighty Murchison falls. You will leave the boat not farm from the bottom of the falls so you can hike up to the top of the falls. This section of the park has no wild animals so it is safe to hike.

Day 4Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast you travel south on to Kibale National Park. The drive will take you through beautiful beautiful landscapes along the edge of the Great Western Rift Valley and Lake Albert. You will go past the foothills of the Rwenzori mountains, Africa’s highest mountain range and on to your accommodation just outside the Kibale National Park. 

Day 5Chimpanzee Tracking and Nature Walk

Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park is one of Uganda’s most thrilling wildlife experiences. Known as the “Primate Capital of the World,” Kibale is home to around 1,500 chimpanzees, offering visitors a unique opportunity to observe these fascinating primates in their natural habitat. Led by expert guides, the trek takes you through dense tropical rainforest, where you can hear the chimps’ distinct calls long before spotting them swinging through the treetops or foraging on the forest floor.

The experience provides an intimate glimpse into the daily lives of our closest living relatives, from grooming and feeding to their complex social behaviors. Tracking chimpanzees in Kibale is not only an adventure but also a chance to support vital conservation efforts aimed at protecting these endangered creatures and their forest home.

In the afternoon after take another excursion to the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, located near Kibale National Park in Uganda, is a vibrant eco-tourism destination known for its rich biodiversity and community-driven conservation efforts.

This lush wetland sanctuary is home to over 200 bird species, including the Great Blue Turaco, and a variety of primates such as red colobus monkeys and black-and-white colobus monkeys. Managed by the local community, Bigodi offers guided nature walks along boardwalks, providing visitors with the opportunity to experience the wetland’s unique flora and fauna while supporting sustainable tourism. The wetland is also a key player in preserving the local ecosystem, offering a peaceful retreat for nature lovers and birdwatchers alike.

Day 6Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After a leisurely breakfast travel further south to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive will take you through Kasese on the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. For many of the climbers of Rwenzori, Kasese is the starting point. Cross the equator just before you get to the Queen Elizabeth National Park, and check into your accommodation. Depending on your time you could simply relax or spend the time exploring the crater and salt lakes here.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is a breathtaking wildlife sanctuary renowned for its diverse ecosystems, the park offers a unique blend of savanna, wetlands, and forested areas, providing a home for a wide range of wildlife. Visitors can spot iconic African Big 5 wildlife animals like lions, elephants, leopards, and buffalos, as well as a variety of primates, including chimpanzees and baboons. The park is also famous for its scenic landscapes, including the Kazinga Channel, a scenic waterway that connects Lake George and Lake Edward. With its rich biodiversity and stunning scenery, Queen Elizabeth National Park is a must-visit destination for any wildlife enthusiast.

Day 7Game Drive and Boat Safari

A game drive and boat safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park offer an unforgettable wildlife adventure in one of Uganda’s most iconic parks. The game drives, typically conducted in the early morning or late afternoon, take visitors through the park’s diverse landscapes, from savannah plains to lush wetlands, in search of wildlife like elephants, lions, buffalo, antelope, and the over 600 bird species in this park.

In the afternoon, you will go for the boat safari along the Kazinga Channel provides a unique vantage point to observe a variety of animals that gather at the water’s edge, including hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and an array of birdlife like African fish eagles and pelicans. The combination of land and water exploration allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the rich biodiversity and stunning scenery of Queen Elizabeth National Park, making it a must-do for safari enthusiasts.

Day 8Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today transfer to Bwindi through the southern sector of national park. Look out for tree climbing lions on your way as you go through the Ishasha sector. This is only one of two places in the world where you will find lions spending more time in the huge trees, than on the ground. And that is what makes them special – the tree climbing lions. Later in the afternoon you will be in Bwindi near the national park. Spend the even listening to the sounds of the forest you will be visiting the next day. 

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its dense rainforest and remarkable biodiversity. This park is home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, making it a must-visit destination for wildlife enthusiasts. Visitors to the park can enjoy gorilla trekking adventures where they encounter these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Bwindi also boasts a diverse range of other wildlife, including chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, and over 350 bird species. With its lush vegetation, breathtaking scenery, and unique wildlife encounters, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park offers an unforgettable Uganda safari experience.

Day 9A Moment with Mountain Gorilla Family

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, offering the rare chance to encounter endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The trek takes visitors through the dense, misty forests of Bwindi, often requiring several hours of hiking across rugged terrain before coming face-to-face with a gorilla family. Accompanied by experienced guides and trackers, trekkers witness these magnificent creatures up close, observing their interactions, from playful juveniles to the imposing silverbacks that lead the group.

The experience is both awe-inspiring and deeply humbling, as you watch the gorillas’ human-like behaviors in the wild. With only around 1,000 mountain gorillas left in the world, trekking in Bwindi not only offers a profound connection with nature but also helps support conservation efforts that protect these gentle giants and their forest home.

Day 10Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Today you transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. This small but beautiful park is conveniently located near the highway connecting Kampala to western Uganda. It’s the smallest of Uganda’s savannah parks and sits on ancient rocks that are over 500 million years old. The park is home to 350 bird species and various animals such as zebras, impalas, elands, buffalos, leopards, hippos, hyenas, and more. The park is known for its rich birdlife, with over 315 species. It’s a great place to spot acacia-dwelling birds like the mosque swallow, black-bellied bustard, and Ruppell’s starling. The southern ground hornbill and black-throated barbet are also frequently seen here.

Day 11Transfer to Kampala Cross the Equator

Lake Mburo National Park offers a unique and intimate safari experience, especially through its guided safari walks, which allow visitors to explore the park on foot—a rare opportunity in many African parks. Accompanied by an experienced ranger, the safari walk takes you through acacia-dotted woodlands and rolling savannahs, offering close encounters with wildlife such as zebras, giraffes, impalas, and various bird species. Unlike traditional game drives, these walks provide a more immersive experience, allowing you to learn about the park’s flora, fauna, and conservation efforts up close.

Other activities in Lake Mburo include boat safaris on the lake itself, where visitors can observe hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds, as well as horseback riding and mountain biking, giving adventurers a variety of ways to experience the park’s diverse landscapes and wildlife. Lake Mburo’s smaller size and range of activities make it a perfect destination for travelers seeking a more personal and active safari experience. 

After your walking safari, transfer to Kampala. 

Day 12Just Me Time for You before you transfer to Entebbe

After days on the safari trail, this morning is your me time as you explore Kampala. Or simply enjoy time shopping for souvenirs and gifts to take back with you. Later, your guide for the last days will transfer you to the airport for the journey back home. Though your adventure with us at Nandi Adventures ends today, we look forward to seeing you again for many more journeys of discovery.
