Full Itinerary

Day 1Welcome to Uganda!

Welcome to Uganda, the Pearl of Africa. Our guide from Nandi Adventures shall meet you at the airport. After pre-trip briefing, you will begin your safari adventure in Uganda. Depending on your time of arrival, you could go for a walk in the botanical gardens on the shores of Lake Victoria. You are sure to see some primates in that call this garden home. Alternatively, you could visit the malls to stock up on supplies like batteries.

Day 2Off to Kibale the Primates Capital

Today transfer to Kibale National Park in western Uganda. The park is known for its diversity and abundance of primate species. Some call it the primate capital of Africa, the primatologist’s dream.

After checking in, explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area near Kibale National Park. It covers an area of about 4.5 square kilometers and consists of a mosaic of wetlands, grasslands, and forests. The sanctuary is renowned for its rich biodiversity, including a variety of bird species, primates, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. Birdwatching enthusiasts particularly enjoy Bigodi for its numerous bird species, including the Great Blue Turaco, and the Papyrus Gonolek.

Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is managed by the local community as a conservation and eco-tourism project. The revenue generated from tourism activities, such as guided nature walks and birdwatching tours, directly benefits the community and supports conservation efforts in the area.

Day 3Track the Chimpanzees of Kibale

Enjoy breakfast before you before going out to track chimpanzees in this tropical forest. Kibale National Park is located in western Uganda, near the town of Fort Portal. It is one of the best places in Africa to track and observe chimpanzees in the wild due to its large population of habituated chimpanzees. While tracking chimpanzees, visitors may also encounter other wildlife species including other primates such as red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and L’Hoest’s monkeys, as well as various bird species and forest mammals.

Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park offers a unique and memorable wildlife experience, allowing visitors to connect with these remarkable animals in their natural environment while supporting conservation efforts in Uganda..

After chimpanzee tracking in Kibale, drive farther south crossing the equator into the southern hemisphere and the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Spend the afternoon on a safari cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This is a wonderful water safari that brings you close to the wildlife and diverse bird species.

Day 4Wildlife Game Drive then Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s most famous and diverse protected areas, located in the western part of the country. The park covers an area of about 1,978 square kilometers (764 square miles), making it Uganda’s second-largest national park. It is also renowned for its incredible biodiversity, encompassing a variety of ecosystems such as savannah, wetlands, forests, and lakes. It’s home to an impressive array of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, and over 600 bird species.

Explore the diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes of Queen Elizabeth National Park on a private game drive. Day 5Amazing Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Today you head into Uganda’s highland rainforests to track gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bwindi is an ancient rainforest that protects about half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas. There are only about 1,063 mountain gorillas left in the world.

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a captivating and transformative experience. It allows visitors to come face-to-face with one of the most majestic and endangered creatures on earth— the mountain gorilla. The trek, which can range from a few hours to a full day, takes you through challenging but breathtaking terrain.

Day 6Seek Out the Golden Monkeys, Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Golden monkey tracking with in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park offers an unforgettable primates safari experience. This lush park, part of Uganda’s Virunga volcanic range, is home to the rare golden monkeys, an endangered primate species with distinctive bright orange fur and playful nature.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in southwestern Uganda, part of the Virunga volcanic range. Covering 33.7 square kilometers, it is one of the smallest of Uganda’s national parks but rich in biodiversity. The park is home to endangered species such as the mountain gorilla and the golden monkey, making it a top destination for primate tracking. The park also offers incredible hiking trails, including ascents to Mt. Gahinga, Mt. Sabinyo, and Mt. Muhabura, providing breathtaking views. Mgahinga is also culturally significant, home to the indigenous Batwa people.

Day 7Transfer to Entebbe

After your exhilarating safari and restful retreat at Lake Bunyonyi, your journey continues as you travel back to Entebbe. The drive from the serene shores of Lake Bunyonyi through the picturesque Ugandan countryside offers a final chance to soak in the country’s breathtaking landscapes.
