With over 1,070 bird species (over 50% of Africa's species), Uganda is a birding hotspot. On this birding safari, you will look out for the prehistoric-looking shoebill to the tiny colorful kingfishers. Your safari will take you to wetlands, tropical forests, wide expanses of savannah, and the impenetrable forest in Bwindi. This all-inclusive private safari gives you a gorilla permit ($800) and chimpanzee trekking ($250) permit per person, and a private guide for the whole trip.

Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Uganda!
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and be warmly received by your guide. Transfer to a comfortable hotel near Entebbe for relaxation. Depending on your arrival time, embark on an optional birding adventure at the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, a haven for over 250 bird species.
Day 2: Birding Paradise - Mabamba Swamp & Coffee Farm
After breakfast, depart for Mabamba Swamp, a Ramsar Site teeming with birdlife. Explore the papyrus swamps by motorized canoe, searching for the elusive Shoebill Stork and other wetland specialties. After, transfer to a charming Coffee Farm nestled in the rolling hills of Uganda’s countryside on your way to Kibale.
Day 3: Unveiling Uganda's Coffee Culture
Savor a delicious breakfast and a cup of freshly brewed Ugandan coffee. Embark on a comprehensive Coffee Tour at the lodge, learning about the bean-to-cup journey. Witness traditional methods and enjoy a tasting of the farm's unique coffee. The afternoon offers a scenic transfer to Kibale National Park, keeping an eye out for birds along the way.
Day 4: Chimpanzees & Kibale's Bird Symphony
After breakfast, embark on a thrilling Chimpanzee Tracking adventure in Kibale National Park, known for its primate diversity. Witness these intelligent creatures swinging through the lush rainforest. In the afternoon, join a guided birding walk, exploring Kibale's rich tapestry of birdlife. Listen for the melodic calls of the Green-breasted Pitta and spot the vibrant Great Blue Turaco.
Day 5: Boat Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park
Depart Kibale National Park and head towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, a wildlife hotspot. Spot a variety of birds along the water's edge, including African Fish Eagles and colorful Kingfishers.
Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to half the world's remaining mountain gorillas. In the afternoon, you have the option to take a village walk or simply rest to prepare for the great gorilla trekking adventure of the next day.
Day 7: Encountering Mountain Gorillas
Today brings the highlight of your trip: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After a briefing, embark on a trek into the rainforest to find a habituated gorilla family. Witnessing these gentle giants in their natural habitat is a truly unforgettable experience. In the afternoon, transfer to the Ruhija sector of Bwindi. Enjoy some optional birding around Bwindi's diverse habitats, searching for beautiful species like the African Green Broadbill or the elusive Chapin's Apalis.
Day 8: Exploring Ruhija & Mubwindi Wetland
Explore the unique Mubwindi Wetland on a guided birding walk. This wetland ecosystem boasts a variety of bird species, including the stunning Narina Trogon.
Day 9: Unveiling Lake Mburo's Treasures
Depart Bwindi and head towards Lake Mburo National Park, known for its diverse landscapes and wildlife. Go birding on Lake Mburo and through the park. Enjoy birding opportunities throughout the day, spotting a variety of resident and migratory bird species.
Day 10: Birding on a Safari Walk
Early in the morning, take a unique safari walk in Lake Mburo National Park. Explore the park on foot with a ranger guide, getting closer to the park's birdlife and experiencing the savanna ecosystem firsthand. Depart Lake Mburo National Park and transfer back to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight. Take home unforgettable memories of your Ugandan adventure!
